Chief Mike Supkis

Chief Supkis is a 40-year veteran of public safety and pleased to serve the community of La Pine and Sunriver area since 2010 as Fire Chief.  He previously served as fire chief, public safety director, and police chief in progressive public safety organizations within Idaho, Alaska and Oregon. Chief Supkis has degrees in Forestry and Fire Science, and is also a graduate of the Alaska Public Safety Academy and the National Fire Academy, Executive Fire Officer Program.

Assistant Chief Dan Daugherty

Chief Daugherty has proudly served at La Pine Fire District since 1993, and served in the fire service since 1988.  He previously served in the roles of Deputy Chief, Battalion Chief, and Shift Commander, and currently is responsible for providing strategic leadership and ensuring the district is well positioned to provide the best service to the community.  Chief Daugherty has degrees in Emergency Medical and Fire Protection Services.  He has maintained a National Registry EMT License since 1978 and Oregon Paramedic License since 1993, and continues to participate in Fire Officer Programs at the National Fire Academy and other institutions of higher education.

Captain Franklin began his service with the La Pine Fire District on October 15, 1997.

Captain Young began his service with the La Pine Fire District on April 19, 1999.

Bonita Johnson – Office Manager

Bonita Johnson is a native Oregonian who has resided in Central Oregon since 2000 and has been employed as the Office Manager of La Pine Fire District since March 2002. She has been an active member of the Oregon Service Office Administrator’s group since 2002 serving as region representative, hospitality and membership coordinator. Bonita has been employed in the emergency services field since 1987 and in office management since 1980. Her passion in life is to be kind and help others.

Sue Curl – Ambulance Billing

Sue Curl is a native Oregonian born in Eugene and she enjoyed growing up in Portland and Bend. She was employed in the emergency services field as an EMT/Firefighter and in the Emergency Room for a local trauma center while living in Southern Oregon. She moved to Bend in March of 2014 to assume the role of Ambulance Billing Specialist. Sue is enjoying many of the outdoor activities that Central Oregon has to offer, while dedicating her work days to helping patients during difficult times.

 Joyce Engberg – Administrative Assistant

Joyce Engberg grew up Oregon and moved with her family to La Pine in 2016..  She came to us from George Fox University, where she was the administrative assistant for their largest department. Joyce has extensive experience in office management, with the last 12 years in educational settings, during which she was responsible for instituting and managing progressive safety measures and first aid training for a PreK-12th grade school. Her favorite activity is spending time with her family and enjoying the abundant natural beauty our area has to offer.
