Ground & Air Ambulance Memberships (FireMed)

How Ambulance Memberships Work
Annual ground ambulance memberships are not insurance. Memberships cover the portion of your medic bill that is not covered by your insurance.

If you would like to purchase ground ambulance coverage only:
La Pine Fire District’s ground ambulance coverage is administered by LifeFlight.  Call 1-800-982-9299 and ask for La Pine FireMed Basic coverage – you can pay by credit or debit card over the phone.  Cost is $58 per year (see membership guidelines).

If you also want air ambulance coverage:
In critical emergency events, you may need to be transported by helicopter to the hospital. La Pine faces a unique situation in that two helicopter ambulance companies service Central Oregon and neither the patient nor the paramedic crew can choose which is sent.  911 automatically sends the air ambulance that is closest and available to your medical emergency.

To ensure you have complete air ambulance membership coverage you must sign up for both LifeFlight andAirlink air medical transports.

  • LifeFlight combination ground and air ambulance coverage costs $133 per year (see membership guidelines). Call 1-800-982-9299 and ask for the La Pine FireMed Plus coverage – you can pay by credit or debit card over the phone.
  • Airlink air only ambulance coverage costs $65 per year for seniors and $85 for others (see membership guidelines). Call 1-800-793-0010 and ask for the Airlink AMCN Membership for one year for La Pine, Oregon. You can pay by credit or debit card over the phone.  Remember, if you live in the La Pine Fire District your FireMed (ground ambulance) provider is LifeFlight of Oregon.  Airlink DOES NOT provide ground ambulance membership for the area south of Spring River Road in Sunriver to the Klamath County boundary south of La Pine.

Both these companies have some reciprocal benefits with other areas of Oregon and the USA.  Be sure to ask each company representative when you call what areas they have reciprocal coverage with, since some areas including Portland and parts of the Oregon Outback are not covered.
